TAP Job Club and the Labour Market

Year 2 students on The Autism Project (TAP) attended their weekly job club this week to find out information about the ‘Labour Market’.

Students learnt about what this means, how it has been affected by COVID-19 and a website they can use to find out how many jobs are available in their chosen job sector (http://wheretheworkis.org/ ).

Students discussed the different job sectors, talked about types of jobs in these sectors and how some industries have been affected by COVID-19. Students were able to identify that COVID-19 has raised unemployment levels and that this might mean they have to be more flexible in their search for jobs whilst on TAP. Students discovered that for school leavers, the sectors with the most jobs currently available in their local labour market were Sales/Retail and Administration.
