Britains Secret Workforce

The Government has pledged to half the disability employment gap from 48% to 64%, by 2020.

During World Autism Awareness Week 2018 and beyond, we are urging employers to be actively open to employing individuals on the autism spectrum (and other disabilities) and to consider adapting their recruitment practices.

1 in 100 children in the UK have an autistic spectrum condition – that’s 8,000 school leavers each year. But less than 25% go on to further or higher education, only 16% of all adults with autism work and just 4% live independently.

Something clearly needs to change.

There is much evidence out there that with the right support many more of these young people are more than able to work and would like to work.

At Care Trade, we have a proven track record that with the right support, young people with autism make exemplary employees. Over 60% of the young people supported by us have gained sustained employment. And employers are seriously impressed.
